About

As a child Nina Mata loved getting lost in fairy tales and her drawings, which were mostly about her long lost mermaid family. She was one of the only two students in her JHS to be accepted into the High School of Art & Design where she concentrated in Commercial Arts. After graduating high school she further pursued a career in Illustration at The Fashion Institute of Technology.

During her freshman year of undergrad she accepted an editorial internship at Sesame Workshop where (she not only was given the coordinates to Sesame Street) she discovered her love of picture books. Nina has created illustrations for kids apps, educational publications and more.

She currently lives in New Jersey with her husband, their 1 yr old daughter and Tabitha, the cat. Nina plans to be a Mouseketeer when she grows up…that or Bob Ross.
